Book Review: With This Ring, I Thee Dread

With This Ring, I Thee Dread (The Omaha Series)
by Ruth Ann Nordin

Genre: Contemporary, Humor, Romance
Publication: January 2010
Format: ebook
Author:  Website
Ryan Jackson and Elizabeth Valentine can't stand each other. Unfortunately for them, their parents get along great and decide to play matchmaker in a very unusual way. In order to keep their jobs, they will have to get married and spend four months in a remote Alaskan cabin. They accept the terms but are determined that their parents' ruse will never work...until Ryan changes his mind.

With This Ring, I Thee Dread is a great comedy romance. Ryan Jackson, a successful advertising company was threatened to marry his nemesis, Elizabeth Valentine and spend four months honeymoon in a remote Alaskan cabin. Their parents believe that Ryan and Elizabeth would soon fall for each other by placing the two in a cabin alone.

I love the interaction between the characters, Ryan and Elizabeth. Most of them are cute and hilarious! I am glad that the characters’ relationship was not build on hot, steamy scene like I usually see in most books. But instead, I get to see lots of bickering between Ryan and Elizabeth (which is mostly funny) and see them to get to know each other through conversations. Through these conversations, the characters slowly changed as they begin to understand each other more.

Despite its not-so-attractive cover, With This Ring, I Thee Dread is a fun, light and cute read on arrange marriage. I really enjoy reading this a lot.

Book Review: The Cold Wife

The Cold Wife (The Virginia Series)
by Ruth Ann Nordin

Genre: Historical Romance, Romance
Publication: February 27th 2010
Format: ebook
When Carrie Allen learns that her father has arranged a marriage between her and Justin Monroe, she knows that a pair couldn't be more mismatched. And she wants out! Justin Monroe has loved Carrie for years, so he jumps at the chance to marry her. But he's in for a surprise when she tells him the truth...and asks for an annulment. Too bad for her he's not willing to give up.

I was reading this book for fun as the synopsis sounds good. The Cold Wife began with Carrie’s father goes bankrupt and her father arranged her to be married to Justin. Justin loved Carrie for years and had no idea that Carrie was opposing the idea of marrying him. It was after the wedding that he found out that Carrie never wanted to be married to him. He vowed to win her heart after some period.

I thought The Cold Wife was an okay read. I enjoy the moments between Carrie and Justin and their banter. It was fun to watch how they learned about each other and gradually, Carrie fell for her husband.  I also enjoyed the scene between Carrie and her brother. It was funny.
